Why Google Requires Business Documents

Google Play Console is an app distribution platform accessed by billions of users. To maintain the quality and safety of its ecosystem, Google requires organization developers to verify their business identity. This is not bureaucratic friction — it is a protection that benefits legitimate developers.

The verification process helps Google ensure that organization accounts are managed by entities that can be held accountable. It also gives users more transparent information about who is publishing the apps they use.

Primary Documents to Prepare

For Indonesian businesses, the primary documents generally required within the Play Console verification ecosystem include a ratified deed of establishment, an active NIB from the OSS system, a business tax identification number (NPWP), and a national ID or passport of the authorized director. A DUNS number registered with D&B is the key document Google uses for organization validation.

Beyond legal documents, Google also relies on consistency of data across public platforms. Ensure that the official website, Google Business Profile, and business social media accounts display information aligned with the official documents.

  • Deed of establishment and ministerial ratification decree (for PT)
  • Active NIB from the OSS system
  • Business NPWP
  • Valid and verified DUNS number
  • National ID or passport of the director or owner
  • Professional business email address
  • Website or online presence displaying business information

DUNS Number as the Central Document

Among all the documents required, DUNS has a central role because it is the one Google directly uses to look up business data. Ensure your DUNS number is registered and findable in the D&B database before using it in a Play Console submission.

Data listed in the D&B profile — especially the business name and address — must be exactly the same as what you enter in Play Console. Even minor differences, such as the use of abbreviations, can lead to a rejection.

Maintaining Consistency Across Documents

Before submitting verification, create a simple comparison table containing the business name, address, phone number, and contact information from each document. Compare this information side by side to ensure there are no inconsistencies.

If there are any discrepancies, fix them at the source first. If the name in DUNS differs from the deed, update DUNS. If the address in NIB has changed, update NIB through OSS. Do not try to adjust the Play Console form to match incorrect data — that will only create new problems.

The Registration and Verification Process

Once all documents are ready and consistent, you can begin the Play Console registration process. Select the organization account type, enter the business information as it appears in your documents, and follow the verification steps requested. Google may require time to process the verification.

While the process is underway, ensure the email registered to the Google account is active and monitored. Google will send notifications about verification status or requests for additional information to that email. Verification decisions rest entirely with Google.
