Key Account Health Indicators
When you gain access to view an account, there are several primary indicators to check first. The account status displayed at the top of the dashboard, policy notifications, and the inbox of messages from Google are the most informative starting points.
A healthy account will typically show no warning banners on the main dashboard page and will have no policy notifications awaiting action. If any are present, ask the seller to explain the context and the status of their resolution.
Reviewing Policy History and Violations
The Policy Manager section in Google Play Console records all policy actions that have ever been applied to the account. This includes warnings, feature restrictions, application removals due to violations, and similar actions. All records are retained and can be reviewed.
Ask the seller to show you this section directly. A policy history is not an automatic disqualifier, but it must be disclosed and its context explained. An account with a clean policy record is clearly preferable.
- Open the Policy Manager section and note all entries present
- Check the account inbox for messages from Google
- Review the status of every application in the account
- Check whether any features are currently restricted
- View login history and account activity if available
- Confirm the status of developer identity verification
Verifying the Completeness of Developer Information
The developer information section should contain a valid name, email address, and contact details. For an organisation account, business information such as company name, address, and supporting documents must be consistent and verifiable.
Any inconsistency between the information recorded in the account and the seller's identity as you know it is a warning sign. Every inconsistency must be explained satisfactorily before you proceed with the transaction.
Checking Application and Publication Status
If the account has applications that are already published or in progress, review their status thoroughly. Applications that were removed or rejected due to policy violations leave records that are important for the buyer to know about.
Also note basic metrics such as download counts and ratings if applications are still active. This gives you a picture of the account's genuine usage and whether it is consistent with the information the seller has provided.
Interpreting Your Findings
After completing all checks, form an overall assessment based on your findings. An account with no policy record, complete and consistent developer information, and a clean application history represents the ideal profile.
If there are findings that need clarification, raise them with the seller before making a decision. A good seller will provide a satisfying explanation rather than attempting to avoid or minimise your findings.
