Documents for Personal Accounts
Advertisers using a personal account registered in their own name are generally required to provide an official government-issued identity document. Commonly accepted documents include a national ID card, a valid driver's license, or a passport. Choose the document whose name most closely matches the name registered in your Google Ads account.
The quality of the scan or photo is critical. Make sure the entire document is visible, no part is cropped, all text is legible without zooming in, and any facial photo (if present) is not blurry. Avoid photos taken in low-light conditions or at an angle.
- Use a valid national ID, driver's license, or passport.
- Scan or photograph at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
- Ensure all text is readable and nothing is cropped out.
- The name on the document must exactly match the name in your Google Ads account.
- Save the file in JPG, PNG, or PDF format at a reasonable file size.
Documents for Organization Accounts
For accounts registered under the name of a company or organization, Google typically requests documents that prove the legal existence of that entity. Relevant documents include a business registration number (such as an NIB in Indonesia), a notarized articles of incorporation, or a valid business domicile letter.
The company name across all documents must be consistent with one another and match the name registered in the Google Ads account and billing profile. If there is a difference between the legal entity name and a commonly used trade name, provide documentation explaining the relationship between the two.
Document Quality Standards That Are Frequently Overlooked
Google applies document quality standards that must be met for a submission to be processed. Documents with low resolution, dark photos, or portions obscured by fingers or objects will be rejected — either automatically or after a human review. Evaluate your documents from the perspective of a reviewer who has never seen them before.
Common mistakes include uploading a selfie holding the document, submitting an expired document, or using a poor-quality photocopy scan. Always use original documents for scanning or photographing.
How to Prepare Good-Quality Digital Documents
Use a flatbed scanner if one is available for the best results. If you are using a smartphone camera, use a scanner application such as Adobe Scan or CamScanner, which can correct perspective and improve text legibility. Ensure adequate lighting and that the background contrasts clearly with the document.
After preparing the file, open and review each page before uploading. Zoom in to confirm all text, numbers, and signatures are clearly legible. Compress the file if it is too large, but avoid reducing quality significantly.
Documents That Must Not Be Used
Expired documents cannot be used for verification. Similarly, documents belonging to another person may not be used, even if you manage their account. Every document submitted must belong to the owner or an authorized representative of the account in question.
Documents that have been modified using photo editing software — including excessive brightness adjustments or any change to the content — must not be used. Documents must be authentic and unaltered. The use of forged or manipulated documents can result in a permanent account suspension.
