The Role of Address Verification in the Play Console Ecosystem
A verified address adds an additional layer of trust for users browsing the developer page in the Play Store. It also helps Google ensure compliance with local regulations applicable in the jurisdiction where the business operates.
For organization accounts, a consistent address between business documents and the Play Console profile is also part of the broader organization verification process.
Accepted Types of Proof of Address
Commonly accepted proof of address documents include utility bills such as electricity or water bills, bank statements, letters from government agencies, or official business documents that list an address. The document must show a name and address consistent with the account profile.
Documents used must be relatively recent—generally not older than three to six months—unless they are legal documents that do not have a standard expiry.
- Recent utility bill in the name of the account owner or business entity

- Business deed or certificate listing the operational address
- All documents fall within the timeframe accepted by Google
The Address Verification Submission Process
Navigate to the profile or verification section in Play Console and follow the on-screen instructions to upload your proof of address. Documents must be uploaded in an accepted format and at sufficient resolution to be clearly readable.
Some accounts may require verification via a postal code sent to a physical address. If this is required, ensure the address entered is one that can genuinely receive physical mail.
Resolving Address Verification Issues
If address verification is rejected due to a mismatch, review whether the name and address on the document exactly match what is in the account profile—including road format, city, and postal code.
For a business that operates at an address different from its legal registered address, provide both relevant documents along with a brief explanation of the relationship between the two addresses.
Maintaining Address Consistency
Once an address is verified, ensure all other documents and profiles related to the account use the exact same address format. Future inconsistencies can trigger a re-verification request.
If the business address changes, update the information in Play Console promptly and prepare new documents showing the current address. Allowing address information to become outdated can undermine Google's confidence in the account.
